Priory Wareham’s quintessential English hotel is the perfect rest after an activity packed day exploring Dorset. We have thirteen beautiful bedrooms with comfortable king sized, double and twin beds in the Main House, and four suites located directly on the RiverBank in our Boat House. All guest rooms are finished to a high standard, individually styled to highlight their original 16th century character. Each room provides something special, whether that’s the gentle crashing of waves in our boat houses, or views over our breathtaking terrace garden.

There are transport links by train, bus, shuttle and taxi to Wareham, Dorset. If you are travelling by car, we provide parking spaces and electric vehicle charging stations. There is also a Tesla fast charging station at Wareham crossing.
We are situated in between Priory Church and River Frome, just off Church Street.
How to arrive by:
We have a private gravel car park to the rear of the hotel and 2 Porsche electric charge points (charges for use apply).
At busy times, our parking can get a bit cramped, if we are overflowing, please let us know and we will help with alternative parking nearby.
We have 2 private 50ft moorings at the end of the lawn for our guests to enjoy. Guests are welcome to stay overnight on their boat (small charge applies) when dining with us.
Wareham train station is located a 15 minute stroll through the town, or a 5 minute drive from the hotel . Please call our reservations team for help with a taxi reservation.

While the historic layout of the Priory doesn’t accommodate family or interconnecting rooms, we warmly welcome children over the age of 14 (unless by special arrangement). Please note that we accept guide dogs by prior arrangement.

We make it your home, away from home
Check ins: We welcome check-ins between 3 and 4 p.m., and check out before 11 a.m – if you require late check out, we will do our best to accommodate, possibly subject to a charge. If you require a late arrival after 11 p.m., please make arrangements with us as the main entrance will be locked.
Restaurant Opening Hours: Breakfast 7.30 a.m. – 9.30 a.m. (10.00 a.m. Sunday) – Lunch 12.30 p.m. – 1.45 p.m. – Dinner 6.45 p.m. – 9.30 p.m.
Room Service Charge: We add a discretionary 5% Room Service Charge to your accommodation bill, which goes to all our team.
Cancellations: If you let us know with 7 days notice, we can try to fill your reservation – if unsuccessful you will still be charged.
Disabled access: Our building is grade II listed, and we kindly note that we do not have any disabled bedrooms or lifts.
Children: We welcome children over the age of 14 years.

Head Chef Stephan Guinebault’s love for cooking stems from growing up in his “grand mamans” farm in the Loire Valley, and her cooking. Motivated by his love of (her) food, he started working as an apprentice chef, whilst attending catering college. He progressed through Michelin and Relais and Chateaux establishments in France, gaining classical training and an understanding of regional dishes and techniques.
Today, Stephan thrives on using fine, locally sourced, seasonal produce to create dishes that smell, taste and feel good – serving British cuisine with a classic influence.

In comparison to other Dorset Hotels, The Priory Wareham is centred between all popular attractions and is a much loved location for its walks, nature and independent shops. The Rivers Walk and Wareham Walls walk can be started right on our doorstep, with Wareham town and The Quay just a short walk away. We’re a 15 minute drive to move Isle of Purbeck landmark sites like Corfe Castle, Old Harry Rocks, Lulworth Cove, Durlston Country Park and Swanage town. We’re placed directly next to the River Frome, where you can book a boat charter to gently take in the landscape.
